Catalin Radios Qualifying for 5 & 6 Tube Restoration Specials

There are so many 5 and 6 tube radio models and so few catalin radios, that it would probably be easier to start listing those qualifying for specials than to try to and list all the others. So that's what I've done here. This list will always be under construction.

What is Catalin? Its a colorful plastic material used in the 30s and 40s to make Jewelry, radio cabinets, and other useful items such as drawer pulls. It's similar to Bakelite, however it's a liquid poured into a mold. Bakelite is a powder molded into shape under pressure. An Antique Dealer will call Catalin "Bakelite" and call bakelite "Plastic" to distinguish the valuable from the not so valuable material. "Bakelite" is the correct Antique term for catalin. Both Catalin and Bakelite were trademarks. Catalin's colors make it the "Jewel of Plastics" in my opinion.

**This radio is actually outside the scope of a typical restoration special because it has different tubes more capacitors than a typical 5 Tube set. However, it can be made to qualify as a 6 Tube special. The AU-190, in Red is one of the most valuable catalin radios.
